NEW | PIA’S PLACE PLAYGROUND
Pia’s Place is Whiteman Park’s newest attraction. A 8,000 square metre nature-based playground where there is something for everyone, including children with mobility issues and wheelchair users, and those with cognitive, sensory or social-emotional challenges.
THE STORY
Pia’s Place has an inspirational story behind the playground as it was created in memory of baby Pia Maeve Rudd who died suddenly from SIDS.
Amy Rudd, Pia’s Mum wanted to create a space for children of all abilities to have fun and to remove many of the barriers to participating often experienced by people with disabilities.
Symbolically, the lighthouse represents hope to all families who have experienced loss or are dealing with children with illnesses.
WHAT’S THERE?
Discover the playground’s main feature, which is a 8m tall lighthouse with a spiralling slide from the top and grassed hill on the other side.
Pia’s Place has many nooks and crannies, so much to play on including fireman poles, a flying fox, secret cameras, monkey bars, pirate ship, sandpits and so much more.
Kids can literally play for hours and the playground is all fenced in, so parents can rest their minds that their children can’t run off.
KID’S PARTIES AT PIA’S PLACE
That’s why it is the perfect place to host your kid’s birthday party!
Shelters are available to hire from Whiteman Park to ensure you have a large shaded area.
Numerous picnic tables are scattered around the playground and there are grassed areas too.
A tram stop is at Pia’s place, therefore you can go on a fun tram ride from outside Village Café to the playground.
